Newman Center Campus Ministry

Our goal is to enable each student to live out the meaning of being the Body of Christ and of building God's kingdom with a community that is both challenging and supportive.

We offer companionship on the faith journey and an opportunity to integrate our relationship with Christ into every aspect of life - intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual.

St. Paul's Newman Center is named for John Henry Cardinal Newman, a British theologian who championed the ideal of a humanistic and Christian education in his work, The Idea of a University.

The Newman Center welcomes students from California State University Fresno, Fresno City College, Fresno Pacific University, and other area colleges to participate in a variety of social, spiritual, and service activities:

College Mass The last Sunday mass in town! Sunday nights at 7PM in the Newman Center Chapel. To become involved as a Lector, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, or Altar Server for the 7PM Mass, please contact Karey Spach at 436-3433 or karey@csufnewman.com . 7PM Choir practices at 6PM in the Chapel.

Newman Catholic Student Association NCSA welcomes all college students to College Night, Wednesdays from 6-8PM fall and spring semesters.  Each meeting starts will a free dinner (donated by members of our parish), and includes a discussion, guest speaker, activity (we play Indoor Soccer once a month!), or Mass.  NCSA also sponsors social and service opportunities, a weekend retreat in the spring, and day retreats each semester.  Fall semester dinners begin August 25, 2010, 6-8PM in Cardinal Newman Hall 101.

Es-Tu-Diosis a bilingual Catholic student organization at Fresno State. The group meets Wednesday evenings on Fresno State campus (fall and spring semesters).

College/Young Adult Bible Studymeets Monday nights, 7-8:30PM September through May.  

College Confirmation prepares baptized Catholics for the sacraments of Confirmation, Eucharist (First Communion), and Reconciliation. The group meets September through March, and registration forms are available in August. Contact Karey Spach at (559) 436-3433 or karey@csufnewman.com
If you are not Catholic, and are interested in joining the Catholic Church, please contact Arlene Kalchik at (559) 292-4244 or amkalchik@gmail.com , and ask about RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults).

Volunteer and Ministry Opportunities College students help with high school youth ministry and Confirmation, teach elementary school religious education, help with Vacation Bible School and jr. high youth group, and give their time and talents to other Newman Center events and programs throughout the year. NCSA and EsTuDios organize additional community service opportunities.

The Annex Newman Center Campus Ministry room is available for student use throughout the week and some weekend hours. Meeting room, kitchen, tv, foosball, study area, and wireless internet. The Annex is located on the east side of the Newman Center facility, by the carport near the back of the building.
