Fr. Perry Kavookjian was born in Fresno on July 21, 1958. After graduating from San Joaquin Memorial High School, he attended Fresno State University and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science.
In 1982, he entered St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo, California, to begin his theological studies towards ordination to the Priesthood. He was ordained to the Priesthood by Bishop Joseph Madera on September 12, 1987.
He has served in various capacities since then. Associate pastor at Our Lady of Victory Church (Fresno); associate pastor at St. Philip the Apostle Church (Bakersfield); Chancellor of the Diocese of Fresno, and Vocation Director of the Diocese of Fresno. On June 1, 1994, Fr. Perry succeeded Fr. Sergio P. Negro as pastor of the Newman Center.
